Type I. The wire fabric shall be commercial bronze containing 90 percent copper and 10 percent zinc.
Type II. The wire fabric shall be carbon steel of good commercial quality.
Type III. The wire shall be aluminum cladded 5056 aluminum alloy in accordance with ASTM B211.
Type IV. The wire fabric shall be SAE 30316 corrosion resistant steel conforming with AMS 5524.
Workmanship. The wire fabric shall be free from imperfections which may impair serviceability or affect its appearance.
Finishes:
Zinc coating. The type 11 carbon steel wire fabric shall be elctro-plated in accordance with ASTM B633 after fabrication. The coating shall be not less than 5% of the bare steel weight.
Paint. Unless otherwise specified, the aluminum alloy shall be coated with aluminum pigment paint.
Passivation. Type IV corrosion resistant steel wire fabric shall be passivated in accordance with QQ-P-35B after fabrication.
Powder coating. When specified, the wire fabric shall be coated with epoxy, polyester, or polyethylene.
Tolerances:
Mesh count. The number of meshes per linear inch shall be determined over a square area 2 inches in length. The mesh count shall not vary from that which is specified by more than 1/4 mesh in the warp direction and 1/2 mesh in the fill direction.
Filament size. The wire diameter shall be determined by micrometer measurement. Ten wires each in the warp and fill directions shall be measured. The diameters shall not vary from that which is specified by more than 0.0005 inch.
Width. The width of the material shall not vary more than 1/8 inch from that specified.
